Great Ideas For Making Your Holiday Journey More Fun

As soon as the festive season is over, many of us are going to be looking for great summer holiday bargains. Lots of us like to fly out to the sun-drenched beaches of the mediterranean, or even further afield. The journeys may be tough but once we are there we can lay back and relax. There are ways to make that journey a little easier.

Lots of us somehow manage to be booked on flights that are very early, or very late at night. Why this happens will probably always remain a mystery, but it’s what we have to put up with. When you are driving all the way to the airport at that hour, it requires some serious hard-hitting caffeine, and the whole process wears us down before we have even taken off. If you find your journey is looking too unpleasant, think about having a stopover near the airport, so you are refreshed and ready to tackle the airport queues.

If you are looking for Gatwick Bed and Breakfast accommodation, it can feel like there is little to do anywhere near the airport. However, the area near the airport does have some lovely B&Bs. Even if you have to get up too early to take advantage of the breakfast, having somewhere to rest your head and get a shower after a long drive is wonderful.

For most of us, the driving to the airport is the worst part, so arriving at a nice hotel or B&B for a rest is a welcome treat. Other people detest the queues at the airport or hanging around the departures lounge for 2 or 3 hours waiting for a flight to be called. There are ways to alleviate airport boredom. If you have a tab or smartphone, you may be able to browse the web, watch some TV or even a movie.

For those of you who prefer to be a bit more active, you may be able to wander around and try to pick up some steps on your pedometer. If you are going to be stuck in an airplane seat for a few hours, you don’t want to be stuck seated in the departures lounge too. Small stretches and exercises shouldn’t draw too much attention. You could do them as a family so you can all look slightly silly together! Try lifting the kids ten times, or stretching out your legs.

Once you are on the plane, it is usually a good idea to do some stretches in the seat to keep your circulation in your legs going. If you are not seated next to a stranger, try relieving the pressure on your backside by tilting over to one side for a few seconds. Staring at the screens for more than a couple of hours may make your eyes feel achy so try to vary your focal distance. Closing them for five minutes can be very helpful too. Finally, when the plane touches down, you know you can begin your holiday. Enjoy.
